We at Tarascon Health meet and treat some of the most amazing people, one of those people is Joel.
Joel became part of the Tarascon family many years ago and has inspired us and many others since.
In 2015, Joel ran from Sydney to Kyneton (800kms) to raise money for Cancer after the passing of a very close friend affected by this disease. Through his desire to help others, he has decided to do another run to raise money for what he believes is the backbone of this country – our Aussie Farmers.
Joel will be starting his run from Port Augusta in South Australia and finishing at the Bendigo Cup in Bendigo, Central Victoria. on 31st October.
“This is a cause dear to my heart. I have learnt that struggles on the farm are far too common and for so many of those who work so hard to provide for us, those struggles go unnoticed” says Joel after seeing one of his best friend’s parents farm get hit hard due to the milk price situation.
All around Australia there are farmers losing everything from their crops, animals to their own life.
Joel states: ” Although my mission is only small in comparison to the hardships they (the farmers) are suffering daily, I hope that my efforts will inspire more people to lend a helping hand to those in need. I will be stopping at rural towns along the way to also hopefully inspire the positive message that we do care about our farmers and their mental health.”
Well Joel, you certainly inspire us at Tarascon Health as you inspire many others that you come in contact with.
Herd to Bendigo will be hosting their launch night on Friday the 14th September to celebrate Joel’s fundraising efforts and wish him luck before he sets off on his 1000km run!
The night will be MC’d by Erin Ryan from Triple M Radio.
Guest speakers Lynda Morris, Drought Relief Coordinator from Aussie Helpers will be talking about the charity and how the funds raised are used to support our farmers. Lance Picioane from Love me Love you Foundation will give a talk about depression. There will be silent auctions as well as major auctions and a lucky door prize.
